As in a lot of my work, the joinery is the
focus of the design.
On this table, the horizontal pieces are
connected to the verticals using a
mortise and tenon joint on one end. On
the other end, I fire weld the two pieces

Fire welding is the joining of two pieces
of metal by means of pressure or
hammering. The metal must be very
hot and brought together quickly for a
strong weld. Needless to say, these
particular welds were difficult to
accomplish.
