This piece was designed as a fire

basket -- something you would put logs

on in your fireplace.

After a friend saw it she said, “That is

too nice to put in a fireplace.  Why not

put fruit on it!”  Hence the name.

I love the traditional, forged mortise and

tenon joint and I wanted to make the

joint the focus of the piece.

The base of this piece cradles the top --

which is removable.
