When forging metal, we are usually

dealing with line.

I started the Painting series as small

scale architectural studies using the

joinery and the quality of line as the

focus.

Several pieces into the series, I

wondered why these studies could not

be mounted on the wall and called "Art".

I am literally sketching or drawing in

iron.  I do not use color and I call them

paintings because I am not painting with

pigments but with steel, so I use the

color of the forged steel.
